Ditch 2021 New Year Resolutions

I am not a fan of New Year’s resolutions: 88% of people who set New Year’s resolutions fail.
So let’s do something different: Past Year’s Reviews (inspiration from Tm Ferris):

  • Grab a pen and a notepad. Writing by hand is an excellent exercise for introspection, so do not write on a screen.
  • Create two pages: Personal and Business
  • Create two columns into each page: Positive and Negative.
  • Go through your 2020 calendar, looking at every week.

For each week, note any people and activities that triggered strong positive or negative emotions. Then, for the personal page, ask yourself:

  • “What 20% of activities produced happiness, fulfilment and a sense of realization and achievement?”

For the business page, try:

  • “What 20% of activities produced the biggest return/impact on my organization/role?”

Based on the answers, take your “positive” activities and schedule more of them in 2021.
Take also your toxic activities/people and obliterate them.
Do it with no remorse or fear.
Ask yourself: “Was it really important to spend time or have dinner with that person? Do I really need to attend those boring, useless meetings? … “

Do this exercise today. The benefits will be instantaneous and long-lasting.
Let me know what you think and what has worked for you.
